PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Men's Track & Field continued its dominance in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with another CCC Championship Saturday afternoon.
Ian Mitchell (West Newbury, Mass.) had a strong day for the Hawks, winning five events. He picked up victories in the 110 Meter Hurdles (16.31), High Jump (5' 5.75"/1.67m), Long Jump (20' 2.5"/6.16m), and Triple Jump (40' 7.5"/12.38m). He would later team with
John Christopher (Amherst, N.H.),
Max Axelrod (Barrington, R.I.), and
Joffre Rodriguez (Tolland, Conn.) for a win in the 4x400 Meter Relay in 3:30.36.
The Hawks also grabbed the victory in the 4x100 Meter Relay, with
Andrew Nason (Andover, Mass.),
Mike Mischke (Durham, Conn.),
Austin Clough (Fremont, N.H.), and
Chad O'Neil (Shrewsbury, Mass.) combining for the finish of 44.24.
Justin Burnett (Norwalk, Conn.) posted a win in the 100 Meter Dash with his time of 11.44, while Christopher took the top spot in the 800 Meter Run, posting a time of 1:58.16.
Dustin Wade also earned a win for RWU in the 400 Meter Hurdles in 59.14, three seconds better than the second-place competitor.
In the throws,
Ben Joly earned the victory in the Shot Put, going for a distance of 42' 8.75" (13.02m). The Hawks also earned runner-up finishes by O'Neil in the Javelin Throw (157' 11"/48.14m), Mischke in the Hammer Throw (99' 1"/30.21m), and
Peyton Hand (Hampton Bays, N.Y.) in the Discus Throw (118' 5"/36.10m).
