Webber competes at NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championship

Greensboro, N.C.- The Roger Williams University swimming and diving team had one swimmer qualify for the 2016 NCAA Division III swimming and diving Championship. Sophomore, Mackenzie Webber (Meadville, PA) competed this past week in Greensboro N.C. in the 50 free and the 100 free at the Division III Championship. Mackenzie Webber was the first hawk on the swimming and diving team to compete at the NCAA Division III Championship.

Webber competed in the 50 yard freestyle race on Thursday, March 17th. Webber placed 44th in the prelims with a time of 24.06. Webber also competed in the 100 yard freestyle on Saturday, March 19th. Webber placed 47th in the prelims with a time of 53.41.

Webber's first year at Roger Williams she was part of the 400 Yard Medley Relay team and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team that broke the school record at the NEISDA Championship. She was also part of the 200 Yard Medley Relay team that broke the school record at the Gompei Invitational at WPI. Webber broke the school record in the 50 Yard Freestyle at the NEISDA Championship. Webber also, earned All-New England honors in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, 50 Yard Freestyle, and 200 and 400 Yard Medley Relay as a Freshman.

As a sophomore, Mackenzie won the 100 yard backstroke and 100 yard freestyle at the Brandies Invitational. At the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship, Mackenzie was part of the 200 yard medley relay team that took first place. Webber placed first in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle and was part of the 200 yard freestyle relay team that placed first. Overall, the women's swimming and diving team won the CCC Championship for the 2015-2016 season.

Mackenzie Webber became the first swimmer to ever compete in the NCAA Division III Championship.
