Crowell and Parcel compete at NCAA DIII National Championships

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Wrestlers Colin Crowell (Hampstead, N.H.) and Shane Parcel (Pine Brook, N.J.) competed at the NCAA DIII Wrestling Championships this past weekend at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 

The 165 Crowell opened the bracket with Nicholas Schuler (SJM) who he defeated by decision 8-3.  In the round of sixteen he faced Joseph Kubica (DUBU) earning another victory by decision 8-6.  In the round of eight, Crowell dropped first match of the meet to Joey Favia (SIOT) by decision 4-3 that sent him to the Wrestleback Bracket.  There he faced Jordan Powell (THIE) who dropped his first match in the round 16 before advance in Wrestleback Bracket.  Crowell dropped his second match in another one point loss that bounced him from the tournament.   Crowell finishes his junior season with an overall record of 37-7.

Competing in the 184 lb. Parcel opened the tournament with Josh Thomson (MESS) losing a close 8-4 decision that sent him to the Wrestleback Bracket.  There he met Richard Dowdley (HEID) and dropped his second of match of the tournament 8-2 that eliminated him from the competition.  Parcel finishes his senior season with an overall record of 36-11
