Men’s Swimming & Diving rolls past UNE

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Men's Swimming & Diving defeated the University of New England Saturday afternoon by a 158-103 score in the Hawks' first meet of the New Year.

Nick Velseboer (Marble Dale, Conn.), Jeremy Siegel (West Deptford, N.J.), Teddy Swanson (Glastonbury, Conn.), and Brandon Lehman (Norfolk, Mass.) kicked off the meet with a win for RWU in the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:48.59. Eric Thurston (Wallingford, Conn.) later picked up another win for the Hawks, taking first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:04.00.

Peter Walerysiak (Bristol, Conn.) earned a victory for RWU in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.09, while Phillip Jacques (Durham, Maine) won the 200 Yard Backstroke in 2:05.98. Austin Kelly (Portland, Conn.) picked up a win in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:14.62) and later teamed up with Walerysiak, Mitch Vieira (North Providence, R.I.), and Christian Moran (Seekonk, Mass.) for first place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay (3:30.23).

Andrew Rumore (Norwalk, Conn.) took the 3-Meter Diving event with a point total of 277.35.

Roger Williams (3-4) travels to take on Connecticut College on Tuesday.
