NEWPORT, R.I. - The RWU Women's Rugby Club won their season opener Saturday, defeating Salve Regina 39-12 at Ft. Adams.  The Hawks did most of their scoring in the first half, with speedy fullback Alexa Roberto (Jr.) scoring four tries, center Jacquie Bole (So.) scoring twice, and Taylor Kolvek (Fr.) adding a score.  Forward Keri Topshe added two conversions.

Roger Williams was the more experienced club, and props Randi Featherstone (Jr.) and Karli Rigali (Sr.), 2nd row Chelsea Phelps (Sr.) and flanker Steph Grodeska all turned in stellar performances.

The Hawks host Southern Connecticut Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
