BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Rugby team defeated UMass-Dartmouth 12-7 on Saturday, with scores by wing Mikaela Feroli and center Cass Friedman.
Although UMass-Dartmouth mounted a furious comeback in the second half, the Hawks' dominant scrum and aggressive tackling kept the Corsairs from tying the game. Flanker Keri Topshe, prop Charly Snellings, scrum half Diana Denio and hooker Christina Duquette all put in stellar efforts for Roger Williams.
The win gives the Hawks a 2-0 record. The team travels to Western Connecticut State next Saturday.
