WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Women's Rugby club lost another nail-biter Saturday, falling to Hartford 17-15 with only minutes remaining.
Tied 5-5 at half, the Hawks asserted themselves in the second half with two more scores, and they led late in the game 15-10. But despite total dominance in the scrums and lineouts, RWU allowed the Hartford forwards to advance the ball and score a try, and the conversion kick ended the hopes of the Hawks.
Tries for RWU were scored by wing Keri Topshe, fullback Alexa Roberto, and scrum-half and captain Diana Denio. The Hawks are now 2-2 on the season.
RWU completes the regular season with a home match next Sunday at 11:00 a.m. vs. Southern Connecticut.
