SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference released its annual Women's Soccer preseason poll and among the placements is Roger Williams University, expected to finish second in the TCCC.
Defending conference champion Endicott College received 13 of the 14 first-place votes in the preseason poll. Roger Williams University and University of New England, were picked to finish second and third, respectively. Gordon College, which received the remaining first-place vote, was selected fourth.
Teams received 14 points for every first place vote received, 13 points for second place votes, 12 points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
Under first-year head coach Abigail Jackson, the Hawks clinched the third seed in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament with a 9-3-1 TCCC record. Facing off against sixth-seeded Western New England College, the Hawks were upset in the TCCC Quarterfinals 4-3 in a shootout on penalty kicks after a double-overtime showdown against the Golden Bears ended in a 2-2 tie in regulation.
This year, the Hawks look to reclaim the TCCC title after clinching the conference championship back in 2008 over Endicott in a 1-0 thriller.
