Roger Williams remembers Baseball freshman Matthew Roche
The Roger Williams University Athletic Department and University community mourns the passing of rising sophomore Matthew Roche, who succumbed to injuries from a fall suffered on Wednesday, June 23.
This past year, Roche competed for RWU on the Baseball team as the team’s starting first baseman. In 33 starts for the Hawks, he finished the year second on the team in batting average (.309) while leading RWU in runs batted in (23) and doubles (8).
Services for Matthew will be held this Sunday, June 27. Calling hours (from 2 to 4 p.m.) and a memorial service (from 4 to 6 p.m.) will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home at 24 Lincoln Avenue in Bristol, Conn. A reception, open to everyone, will follow (at 6 p.m.) at Nuchies Restaurant at 164 Central Street in Bristol, Conn.
