BRISTOL, R.I. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference announced its 2010 All-TCCC Women’s Lacrosse Team today including five RWU Hawks. In addition, Jessie Alden (Cataumet, Mass.) earned TCCC Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Alden, a tri-captain for the Hawks this season, has been a leader for RWU on and off the field. Starting in all 16 games, she has recorded nine goals and eight assists for 17 points. She leads the team with 47 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers, while ranking fourth in draw controls with 29. Her play also garnered her the honor of 2010 All-TCCC Honorable Mention. In the classroom she has excelled, boasting a 3.8 grade-point average and was recently honored as RWU’s Rhode Island Section of American Chemical Society’s Outstanding Graduating Senior in Chemistry.
Three Hawks were named to the All-TCCC First Team: Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.), Nicole Papasergiou (Sea Cliff, N.Y.) and Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.). Halliday leads RWU with 49 goals, 59 points, 83 shots and 39 draw controls this season. In the conference she ranks seventh with 3.06 goals-per-game. This marks Halliday’s third-straight All-TCCC honor having earned 2008 All-TCCC Second Team and 2009 All-TCCC Honorable Mention.
Playing at the defensive position, Papasergiou takes her second All-TCCC award after earning All-TCCC Second Team honors last season. The junior from North Shore High School has tallied three assists, 29 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers in 15 games played this season.
This marks the fourth All-TCCC honor for Magee after taking Second Team honors in 2007 and 2008 and First Team honors in 2009. She dominated the conference again this season, posting a goals-against-average more than two goals lower than the second-ranked goalkeeper, finishing the regular season at 6.84. She also posted the league’s best save percentage at .600.
Senior Kasey Beckwith (Franklin, Conn.) took All-TCCC Second-Team honors after taking Honorable Mention honors last season. The tri-captain ranks second on the team with 37 goals this season and 41 points. She is just three shy of the team lead with 36 draw controls and also ranks third on the Hawks with 29 ground balls. Her 12 free-position goals in 16 games ranks fourth overall in the conference, while her three game-winning goals ties for second in the TCCC.

The RWU Hawks completed the regular season 12-4 overall and 9-2 in the conference – good for a second-place finish. The team hosts seventh-seeded Colby-Sawyer in the TCCC Quarterfinals Saturday at 3:00 p.m. RWU won the previous meeting, 14-4, April 10th.
