WESTON, Mass. — The Roger Williams University Men’s Tennis team secured Saturday’s victory over TCCC opponent Regis College by a score of 9-0. This game marks the team’s eighth straight win, boosting them to a record of 10-6 overall and a perfect 7-0 in the conference.
The singles competition was almost flawless as Jeff DeNunzio (Barrington, R.I.), Dan Kleitz (Wethersfield, Conn.), Kevin Erikson Tolland, Conn.), Jason Pacino (North Reading, Mass.), and Spencer Withington (Plymouth, Mass.) defeated each of their opponents 6-0 and 6-0. Adding to the win was senior captain Kyle Baker (Bolton, Conn.) who beat Douglas Dunbar (Danvers, Mass.) by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
Roger Williams also swept the doubles portion of the match which began with Kleitz and DeNunzio’s 8-3 win over their Pride opponents. Erikson and partner Nicholas Hawvermale (Bethlehem, Conn.) as well as partners Baker and Pacino were all able to defeat their challengers by a perfect score of 8-0.
The Hawks look to keep their impressive streak alive when they take on Nichols College at home on Tuesday. Nichols comes into the match also undefeated in the conference, with the winner potentially clinching the #1 seed in the TCCC Tournament. Regis College (0-5) continues its quest for a victory on April 13th against hosts Western New England College.
