STORRS, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian traveled west to Connecticut this past Saturday, where the Hawks took fifth place at the University of Connecticut Show.

RWU took first place in four events, as Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.), Chelsea Weiner (Syosset, N.Y.), Samantha Taylor (Essex Junction, Vt.), and Alexandra Pastor (Westhampton, N.Y.) earned respective wins in Open Fences, Intermediate Fences, Novice Fences, and Novice Flat.

Picking up runner-up finishes for the Hawks were Scott Pearson (Locust Valley, N.Y.), Alyssa Schankman (Newton, Conn.), and Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.) in Open Fences, Novice Fences, and Novice Flat. Pearson also earned fifth place in Open Flat, while Allred took sixth in Novice Fences.

In Intermediate Flat, Open Flat, Walk-Trot and Walk-Trot-Canter, Weiner, Amelia Stasny (Bernardston, Mass.), Melissa Berger (Delmar, N.Y.) and Riana Fortin (Warren, R.I.) respectively picked up third-place finishes in the events.

Roger Williams stays local this weekend as the Hawks will head to Rehoboth to take part in the Johnson & Wales University Show this Saturday.
