NORTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Tennis team took part in the annual Wheaton College Women's Tennis Invitational, squaring off against Brandeis University, Stonehill College, and host Wheaton College.
Libby Magner (Lakefield, Mass.) and Olivia Hilton (Vernon, Conn.) had the best showing on the day for Roger Williams, defeating Caralina O'Connell and Julia Parmakian of Wheaton College 9-8 in the opening round of second doubles to advance to the championship against Mackenzie Gallegos and Sarah Richman of Brandeis University. Magener and Hilton finished runner-up in the field, as the two fell in the championship 8-3.
At the first doubles flight, Kristin Dono (West Boylston, Conn.) and Caitlin Osepchuk (Ocean Grove, N.J.) won the consolation bracket after beating Jesse Boggis and Maraike Crom of Wheaton College 9-8.
Leah Ribchinsky (Ivoryton, Conn.) lost 6-2, 6-1 to Lindsey Herchel of Stonehill College in the first singles consolation match, while Tracy Klein (New City, N.Y.) fell 6-1, 6-0 to Amy Toegemann of Stonehill at #2 singles consolation. At the third singles consolation, Amanda Wolfe (Mansfield, Conn.) lost 6-4, 6-0 to Ellen Van Faasen of Wheaton College.
Roger Williams will next face Mt. Holyoke College on April 10 in South Hadley, Mass.
