BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team took part in a pair of shows over the past weekend to kick off Spring Break.
On Saturday, the Roger Williams University Equestrian Team traveled to Rehoboth, Mass. against Johnson and Wales University. Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.) showed a strong performance in the Open Fences Division finishing in second place. Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.) finished in fourth, while Alyssa Schankman (Newtown, Conn.) finished fifth, and Amelia Stasny (Bernardston, Mass.) finished in sixth place for the Hawks.
Waskiewicz finished in fifth in the Open Flat Division, while Samantha Taylor (Essex Junction, V.T.) finished in sixth place. Schankman gave a strong performance in the Intermediate Flat Division and finished in second place, while Olivia Cornell (Rowley Mass.) finished in fourth. Courtney Levitsky (Phoenixville, Pa.) finished in fourth for the Hawks in the Novice Flat Division.
In the Walk, Trot, and Canter Division, Melissa Berger (Delmar, N.Y.) posted a strong performance for the Hawks and finished in first place. While Amy Silvia (Walpole, Mass.) finished third, Bridget Wright finished fifth, and Emily Pammett (Groton Mass.) finished sixth.
On Sunday, the Roger Williams University Equestrian team placed eighth out of 11 teams at the Avon Valley Show Stables in Avon, Conn. The team scored 15 points on their way to a strong showing.
Shannon O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) showed a striking performance and finished first for the Hawks in the Open Fences Division. Taylor and Allred both finished fourth in the Intermediate Fences Division.
Olivia Cornell placed second in the Novice Fences, while Levitsky finished in sixth place.
In the Walk, Trot, and Canter Division, Maggie Hanvey (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) finished in third place, while Wright, Melissa Berger (Delmar, N.Y.), and Cara McSoley (Essex Junction, V.T.) all finished in fifth place respectively.
The Hawks look to get back into action on Saturday against Brown University at Windcraft Farm in Hebron, Conn.
