BRISTOL, R.I. - The Women's Swimming and Diving Team suffered only its fourth loss of the season Saturday, falling, 176-116, at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn.

After the Hawks placed second and third in the opening 400-yard Medley Relay senior Brigid Houlihan (Nahant, Mass.) and junior Marissa Carr (Arlington, Mass.) finished first and second in the 1000-yard Freestyle with times of 11;26.19 and 11:27.15, respectively.

Trinity took the top three spots in the 200-yard Freestyle before freshman Ashley Kichline (Souderton, Pa.) won the 50-yard Backstroke by .72 seconds at 30.58. She later went on to post victory in the 200-yard Backstroke at 2:19.96.

The trading of first-place finishes continued as Trinity won the 50-yard Breastroke followed by RWU junior Caitlin O’Connor (Wallingford, Conn.) winning the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 2:17.18.

A strong Trinity team began pulling away midway through the meet, taking first and second in the next two swim events, while also taking first on the 1-meter diving board. Kichline stopped the Bantams’ streak with her victory in the 200-yard Backstroke before Trinity took first in the final six events of the meet.

The loss moves the team back to a .556 win percentage on the season, with an overall record of 5-4. The team now prepares for the New England Championships Feb. 19-21 at the Upper Valley Aquatic Center in White River Junction, Vt.
