SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference has announced the 15 members of the All-TCCC Women’s Basketball Team, and on the list is freshman forward Alexandria Lanieri (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) as the sole representative from Roger Williams University.
Lanieri, who made the All-TCCC Third Team, made a significant impact on the Hawks in her first season. She started in all 24 games played this past year, leading the team in a number of categories including scoring (13.4 ppg), rebounding (9.9 rpg), double-doubles (11), and field goal percentage (.482).
Within the conference, Lanieri emerged as one of the top performers in the league, averaging 14.1 points and 8.8 rebounds in conference play, respectively placing her 13th and eighth in the TCCC. In addition, she also ranked fourth in field goal percentage at .493 and sixth in blocked shots, averaging 1.3 per game.
Lanieri closed the regular season out with a career-high 23 points this past Saturday against Eastern Nazarene College in a hard-fought 64-65 loss. Against Salve Regina on November 24, the freshman forward grabbed 20 rebounds for the Hawks, also a career high.
Lanieri and the eighth-seeded Hawks will look to upset the top-seeded Nor’Easters of the University of New England tonight at 7:00 p.m. in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Quarterfinals at Biddeford, Maine.
