SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Softball team has been picked to finish third in the coaches' preseason Commonwealth Coast Conference poll for the 2010 season, receiving 141 points.
Seven-time defending TCCC champion Endicott College has been picked as the favorite to win the 2010 Commonwealth Coast Conference softball championship. Endicott received eleven of the 13 first-place votes in the 2010 preseason poll. Western New England was selected as the runner-up and received one first-place vote. Roger Williams was selected to finish third.
In 2009, RWU finished 28-17 and 17-7 in the TCCC. For the Hawks, senior captain Michelle Caprice (Oak Ridge, N.J.) returns. Last season Caprice earned All-TCCC Second Team honors and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, going the entire season without committing a single error. Along with Caprice, the Hawks return three players who earned Second Team All-TCCC honors as freshmen, Jaclyn Doolin (Miller Place, N.Y.), Erica Castro (Medford, N.Y.), and Hannah Pirez (Bolton, Mass.). The Hawks look to combine their efforts to capture the TCCC Championship.
Teams received 13 points for every first place vote received, 12 points for second place votes, 11 points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
