MILTON, Mass. – Curry College clinched a home playoff game in next week’s The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament by virtue of its 66-59 win over Roger Williams Wednesday night in Milton.

The Colonels (12-12, 9-3 TCCC) will likely be the #3 seed and host a quarterfinal game on February 23 at 7:00 p.m. With the loss, the Hawks fell to 11-13 overall and 3-9 in TCCC play.

Roger Williams enjoyed an early advantage, but Curry took the lead for good after sophomore guard Jarrell Jackson (Brockton, Mass.) made a layup with 10:16 remaining in the first half. The Colonels built their biggest edge of the opening frame (31-20) after senior forward Philippe Jourdain (Cambridge, Mass.) hit a layup, got fouled and added a free throw shot. Curry took a 37-29 advantage into the locker room at intermission.

The Hawks went on an 9-2 run early in the second half to pull within one (39-38) after junior guard Corey Fava (Aliso Viejo, Calif.) sank a three-pointer with 15:02 remaining in the game. Jackson responded with a jumper at 14:37 to stop the visitor’s run. He also gave the Colonels their biggest lead of the second half, draining a three-pointer with 3:17 remaining to put the hosts up 60-49.

Jackson wound up with a game-high 20 points. He also dished out seven assists. Junior center Rodney Bennett (Mattapan, Mass.) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Roger Williams got a team-high 16 points from sophomore guard Gary Madison (Waterbury, Conn.). Junior forward Taylor Petruccelli (Stratford, Conn.) chipped in with 14 points, while freshman guard Matt Grossbard (Pearl River, N.Y.) contributed 11.

Both teams close out the regular season this Saturday at 3 p.m. Curry hosts Endicott while Roger Williams travels to Eastern Nazarene.
