BRISTOL, R.I. – The RWU Wrestling team suffered four losses at American International College Saturday, competing against strong competition including multiple Division II teams. The Hawks move to 2-5 in dual meets this season.
RWU began the day competing against Kutztown University, which won five of the first six bouts for a lead too large for RWU to overcome. The Golden Bears won 24-15 in the end.
RWU again found itself down early in its next match of the day as the University of Southern Maine won each of the first four bouts, including two wins by fall. The Hawks bounced back winning the next four bouts themselves, including one win by fall, but the Huskies finshed with two wins for the 25-15 victory.
Against Bridgewater State University, RWU dropped three-straight major decisions early. A major decision win for RWU sophomore Philip Ernst at 184 brought the score to 18-10 before a win by fall for the Bears secured the win
In the last match of the day, RWU faced a strong AIC team who won seven of the 10 bouts for the 40-12 victory.
