BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Women's Rugby team lost in the first round of the New England playoffs 31-24 to Middlebury.
Stephanie Grodeska, Brittany Gallin, Jenny Schermerhorn, and Randi Featherstone each scored tries for RWU, and the Hawks led 17-12 at halftime. But Middlebury stormed back in the 2nd half and notched the winning try with two minutes remaining.
This was the farthest RWU Women's rugby has advanced in Division III, and the loss leaves the Hawks with a 4-2 season record. Next up for the Hawks is the Providence 7s tournament on November 14th, where RWU is the defending champion.
