BRISTOL, R.I. - While most of Roger Williams University was moving back into their dorms on Tuesday, the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were busy securing a conference win against Gordon College. The men’s team won by a score of 120-84, and the women defeated Gordon 108-89.
In the 200-yd medley relay, Roger Williams’ teams swept the race, taking first and second place in both the men’s and women’s divisions. Joanna Tchobanova (Brewster, NY), Ashley Kichline (Souderton, PA), Laura Colley (Barrington, RI), and Marissa Carr (Arlington, MA) worked together for the first place finish in women’s with a time of 2:07.82. For the men, the team composed of Kyle Bowie (Keene, N.H), Ethan Bourque (Pawtucket, RI), Dale Dubinsky (Plantsville, CT), and Zach Gillespie (New Preston, CT) won the relay while posting an impressive time of 1:48.79.
Kichline and Colleen Hamilton (Foxboro, MA) took first and second place in the 1000-yd Freestyle, combining for 13 points for the women’s team. Similarly, Dubinsky and Rob Schapp (Torrington, CT) swept the men’s race to help add to the Roger Williams victory.
Both the men’s and the women’s teams continued to be victorious throughout the meet, taking first in all but five events. This win over Gordon College boosts the women’s team past the .500 mark, improving their record to 4-3. The men’s team is boosted to a 6-1 record overall after Tuesday’s victory against Gordon.
The Swimming and Diving teams will host Eastern Connecticut State University Saturday, January 30th at 1:00pm.
