Bridgewater, Mass. – In Pilgrim Wrestling League action, the Roger Williams Hawks earned a 31-16 victory over the Bridgewater State College Bears Tuesday at BSC's Kelly Gymnasium. With the dual meet victory, Roger Williams improves to 10-5 overall and 2-1 in the Pilgrim League, while Bridgewater dips to 5-10 on the season and 2-2 in league matches.
The Hawks jumped out to a 15-0 lead through the first three bouts, including pins by both Jonathan Lemoine(Trumbull, Conn.) and Jeremiah Mahoney (Madison, Conn.) at 125 and 133, respectively. Bridgewater State responded with a pin by senior 149-pounder John Marsh (New Bedford, MA) and a 12-2 major decision victory by senior Frank Cammisa (Danbury, CT) at 157 to cut the deficit to 15-10. Junior Ethan Raymond (Middlebury, VT) then gave BSC a 16-15 lead with a win by fall at 165.
That lead was short-lived as Roger Williams senior Chris Nadeau (Granby, CT) held on for a tough 5-3 decision over BSC junior Steve Ciaccio (West Milford, NJ) at 174 to give the Hawks the lead for good. RWU would go on to post victories in each of the final three bouts as the Hawks pulled away for the 31-16 victory.
Bridgewater State is off until Saturday, February 6th when the Bears travel to WPI for a noontime dual meet with the Engineers. Roger Williams will compete in the NEWA-Metro Conference Challenge Duals at Williams College this Saturday starting at noon.
