Kichline named RWU Female Athlete of the Week

BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University women's swimming and diving team member #Ashley Kichline# (Souderton, Pa.) was named RWU Female Athlete of the Week after breaking three school records while helping the Hawks to victory Saturday afternoon.

Kichline and the Hawks dominated in the pool, defeating the visiting Nor'Easters of the University of New England, 189-91. Kichline began the meet as the first leg in the 400 Medley Relay, in which she set a new RWU record with a time of 1:03.97 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Later in the day Kichline took first place in the 200-yard freestyle with a record time of 2:04.24 before going on to post a record-setting time of 2:17.66 in the 200-yard backstroke. The freshman also posted a first-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke, finishing at 31.10.

Kichline and the Hawks return to the pool Tuesday when they travel to Wenham, Mass., to face Gordon College beginning at 5 p.m.
