Equestrian gets Reserve High Point Team at Wesleyan Show

HEBRON, Conn.The Roger Williams University Equestrian team opened the spring season by taking home the Reserve High Point team ribbon with a runner-up finish at the Wesleyan University Show Saturday afternoon.

 

The Hawks took first place in eight events, including three wins in Novice Flat by Olivia Cornell (Rowley, Mass.), Alicia Milch (Pelham, Mass.), and Alicia Levy (Wantagh, N.Y.) and three in Walk-Trot-Canter by Emily Hamilton (South Windsor, Conn.), Karen Quinn (Berkley, Mass.), and Erin DeMarco (Florence, Vt.).  Earning the seventh and eighth wins on the day for RWU were Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.) in Open Fences and Samantha Taylor (Essex Junction, Vt.) in Intermediate Flat.

 

In Walk-Trot, Sarah Cholewa (Griswold, Conn.) took second, while Miranda Downing (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and Danielle Stucchi (Framingham, Mass.) each finished third. Brittany Cornell (Rowley, Mass.), Abby Hanc (South Hadley, Mass.) and Emily Pammet (Groton, Mass.) each had runner-up finishes in Walk-Trot-Canter.

 

The Hawks also received third-place finishes by Taylor in Novice Fences, Shannon O'Keefe Glastonbury, Conn.) in Open Fences, and Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.) in Novice Flat.

 

The Hawks will head up to the Connecticut College Show next Saturday at Windcrest Farm.
