Women’s Swimming in First Place after Day One of TCCC Invite

BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women's Swimming and Diving sits in first place after the opening day of competition at The Commonwealth Coast Conference Invitational swim meet. The event continues tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

The race was highlighted by two records being broken by the women. The team of #Ursula Nickerson# (Torrington, Conn.), #Melly Marrington# (Farmington, Conn.), #Sarah Mamula# (Madison, Conn.), and #Casey Meagher# (Billerica, Mass.) won and broke the existing school record in the 200-yd Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:46.77. Also breaking a school record was #Caitlin O'Connor# (Wallingford, Conn.) in the 200-yd Individual Medley which she won in a time of 2:21.05. Nickerson and #Ashley Kichline# (Souderton, Pa.) would finish second and third in that event to get the sweep for the Hawks.

The women sit in first place with 210 points. Currently in second is the University of New England with 117 points and Colby-Sawyer College with 73 points.

The competition will continue tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
