BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women’s Cross Country team has capped off another successful season, capturing the programs tenth consecutive title in the Commonwealth Coast Conference.
In earning the unprecedented tenth conference title, the team was victorious at their own RWU Invitational, a fourth place finish at the Westfield State College Invitational, a sixth place finish at the Pop Crowley Invitational and a 16th place finish at the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational.
At the TCCC Championships in Springfield, Mass., the Hawks put on an exciting show to get the win. To do so, several of the Hawks runners had to make final pushes to the finish line to get the win. The Hawks beat out Salve Regina by just one point to win the conference Championship once again.
Setting the pace for the team was senior Emily Tran (Sharon, Mass.), classmate Susan Thaxter (Pepperell, Mass.), sophomore Kaitlin Crowley (Beverly, Mass.) and freshman Liliana Rutler (Wyckoff, N.J.) as they were all consistently among the top finishers in every race.
All four of them were recognized by the TCCC, and named to the All-TCCC Women’s Cross Country team for their efforts throughout the season.
Seven seniors will be departing from the team as they will graduate in the spring. Coach Livingston and the rest of the team say good-bye to Tran, Thaxter, Co-Captain Lisa Marie McNulty (Oakdale, N.Y.), Nadia Kowalski (State College, Pa.), Juliana Fernandes (Arnold, Md.), Co-Captain Alyssa Donovan (Bridgewater, Mass.), and Nicole Desroches (Hebron, Conn.).
