Equestrian team takes fourth at Wesleyan University Show

HEBRON, Conn. - The Roger Williams University Equestrian team placed fourth out of 11 teams at the Wesleyan University show in Hebron, Conn. on Saturday.  The team scored 26 points on their way to the strong showing, ending the fall season for the team.  The season will resume again in early spring.

A strong performance in the Novice Flat division saw four different Hawks riders all tie for first place.  Brittany Cornell (Rowley, Mass.), Alexandra Pastor (Westhampton, N.Y.), Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.), and Karen Quinn (Berkely, Mass.) all turned in identical scores to get the win and earn valuable points towards the team score.  Pastor would also win the Novice Fences division with Cornell placing second and Allred in third, and Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.) would win the Open Flat Division with teammate Samantha Taylor (Essex Junction, Vt.) finishing in third.  Waskiewicz also placed third in the Open Fences division.

Also earning victories for the Hawks were Erin Demarco (Florence, Vt.) who took first in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter division, and Riana Fortin (Warren, R.I.) in the Beginner Walk Trot Canter.  Three Hawks riders placed third in the Intermediate Flats division as Amelia Stasny (Bernardston, Mass.), Alyssa Schankman (Newtown, Conn.), and Chelsea Weiner (Syosset, N.Y.) would put on an equally strong performance.

With the fall season behind them the Equestrian team will take a couple months off before their season resumes during the next semester.  The schedule is yet to be released.
