Women’s Swimming and Diving Drops Tri-Meet to Clark and Wellesley

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Swimming and Diving Team fell at the hands of Clark University and Wellesley. They were defeated by scores of 153.5-86.5 and 153.0-89.0 respectively. During the day #Caitlin O'Connor# (Wallingford, Conn.) was able to break a school record in one of the individual events.

O'Connor broke the record in the 200-yd Freestyle with her time of 2:05.89, narrowly beating the record previously held by Alexia Aron. She placed third overall in the race. She would win the 200-yd Butterfly with a time of 2:20.02, and teammate #Melly Marrington# (Farmington, Conn.) would come in third. In the diving events, #Laura Folsom# (Simsbury, Conn.) placed second in both the one and two meter events. Finishing second and third in the 200-yd Breaststroke were #Kelly Meacham# (Southington, Conn.) and #Joanna Tchobanova# (Brewster, N.Y.).

The two relay events for the Hawks saw them finish in third for both events, as well as fourth in one of them. In the 400-yd Medley Relay the team of #Brigid Houlihan# (Nahant, Mass.), #Olivia Hilton# (Vernon, Conn.), #Casey Meagher# (Billerica, Mass.) and Marrington finished in third while #Celine Rivera#, #Lauren Marchese# (Hillsborough, N.J.), #Jacqui Cohen# (Commack, N.Y.), and Meacham finished close behind in fourth. In the 200-yd Freestyle Relay the Hawks placed third with the team of Cohen, #Olivia Matthes# (West Islip, N.Y.), #Marissa Carr# (Arlington, Mass.), and #Sarah Mamula# (Madison, Conn.).

With the loss the Women's Swimming and Diving team's record now stands at 1-3. The team will be hitting the pool again on Saturday the 21st when they will host Bridgewater State College at 1:00 p.m.
