BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Equestrian Team had strong showing at the URI Show on Sunday at the Faith Hill Farm in East Greenwich, R.I. The team finished in 4th, just six points off the lead behind Brown, Uconn, and the winners and hosts, URI. The team had 13 participants earn points in eight different classifications.
The Open Fences division saw three Hawks place. Shannon O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) placed 4th, Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.) finished in 5th, and Scott Pearson (Locust Valley, N.Y.) came in 6th place. In the Intermediate Fences division, Chelsea Weiner (Syosset, N.Y.) took home 4th place while teammate Amelia Stasny (Bernardston, Mass.) finished in 6th. Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.) competed in the Novice Fences division and won the event for that division.
The Open Flat division was won by O’Keefe, and teammates Pearson and Waskiewicz placed 3rd and 4th, respectively. In the Intermediate Flat division, Samantha Taylor (Essex Junction, Vt.) finished in 2nd place and Weiner placed 5th. Brittany Cornell (Rowley, Mass.) came in 2nd in the Novice Flat division and A. Courtney Levitsky (Phoenixville, Pa.) finished in 3rd.
In the Walk-Trot Canter division, the Hawks’ Abby Hanc (South Hadley, Mass.) and Erin DeMarco (Florence, Vt.) both finished in 2nd place. The Walk-Trot was won by Miranda Downing (Chestnut Hill, Mass.) and teammate Danielle Stucchi (Framingham, Mass.) finished in 3rd place.
The Equestrian Team is next in action as they co-host the Roger Williams University and Brown University Show on Sunday, October 11th in Warren, R.I., with a scheduled start time of 9:30 am.
