BRISTOL, R.I. – Cy Thompson (St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands) and Luke Lawrence (Palm City, Fla.) clinched a spot at the ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championships with respective finishes of third and fourth place this past weekend at the New England Men's Singlehanded Championships.
Thompson, the defending national champion, totaled 77 points over the course of the weekend on the waters of the Mount Hope Bay. He never finished lower than tenth during the 19 races, winning twice and finishing in the top three ten times. Lawrence was equally impressive during his 19 races. The freshman rallied off five wins during the weekend to go along with four runner-up finishes.
The duo will represent Roger Williams University on November 6th at the ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship down in Corpus Christi, Texas.
