BRISTOL, R.I.Endicott College avenged last season’s loss in The Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship with a 1-0 win Saturday afternoon over the Roger Williams University Women’s Soccer team.

Similar to last year’s game, a late goal proved to be the game winner, with Endicott prevailing this time. Colleen Pepin (Fairhaven, Mass.) took a pass from Cheyenne Harris (Bernardsville, N.J.) in the 83rd minute and shot it to the left corner of the goal, where it found its way to the back of the net.

The Endicott defense then held off the Hawks’ offense for the final 6:28 to escape with the win. Less than one minute following the Gulls’ goal, Amanda daCunha (Wethersfield, Conn.) launched a long pass for Noelle Marston (Kingston, Mass.) but Endicott keeper Amy Meuse (Saugus, Mass.) grabbed the ball in mid-air before Marston could make a play on it.

Roger Williams’ last opportunity to score came in the final minute, when Carey Baldwin (West Hartford, Conn.) sent a cross to the left side of the box intended for Maddy Howard# (Medfield, Mass.). The cross rolled out of bounds before Howard could get to the ball, allowing Endicott to get the win.

Meuse earned the shutout, making seven saves for the Gulls in the game, while Hawk keeper Jen Garside (Londonderry, N.H.) stopped four shots on goal in the loss.

Roger Williams (8-4-1, 6-2-0 TCCC) hosts Gordon College Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., while Endicott takes on Eastern Nazarene College Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
