Women's swimming and diving down UNE

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- Junior Brigid Houlihan (Nahant, Mass.) picked up a pair of individual wins and contributed to a relay race victory as Roger Williams University defeated the University of New England, 114-91, in women's swimming Saturday afternoon at the Campus Center.

Houlihan came in first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:39.50) and the 1000-yard freestyle (11:34.73), while swimming the third leg of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that touched the wall 0.07 seconds ahead of UNE's top team.

Roger Williams (5-2), which hosts Gordon College on Wednesday, also won the 200-yard medley relay event in a time of 1:59.94. Though the Nor'easters (7-3) were victorious in seven of the 10 individual races, they could not quite match the depth of the Hawks.

Senior Erica Johnson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) led UNE with wins in the 50-yard freestyle (26.48) and the 100-yard freestyle (57.80). Senior Ali Wagner (Monrovia, Calif.) took first place in the 200-yard butterfly in her final home swim meet. Devan Gilman (Rochester, N.H.), Lindsay Baldini (Hyannis, Mass.), Alyssa Russell (Paso Robles, Calif.), and Sara Shea (Peabody, Mass.) also won an event each for the Nor'easters.

UNE is off until next Saturday when it travels to Colby-Sawyer College for a dual-meet beginning at 1:00 p.m. Release courtesy of UNE Sports Information
