BRISTOL, R.I.- The No. 30 RWU wrestling team earned a 24-13 victory Wednesday night over the visiting Cardinals of Wesleyan University. Two Hawks earned wins by fall as the team improved to 8-2 on the season.
With the match-up beginning at 149, sophomore Thomas Tuminelli (Howell, N.J.) posted a 4-0 decision to give RWU the early 3-0 lead. The Cardinals stormed back however, winning the next three bouts, including a major decision win for junior Greg Hurd (New Hartford, N.Y.) in the 174 match.
A pin by senior James Woods (Demarest, N.J.) at 184 brought the Hawks back to within one at 10-9. RWU took over from there, earning decisions in three of the next four matches before senior Andrew Hawley (Huntington, Mass.) pinned sophomore Vinnie deLalla (Virginias Beach, Va.) at 4:01 of the final bout to put an exclamation point on the Hawks' win.

The Hawks look to ride their momentum into the weekend when they host the New England Division III Dual Meet Championships. Seven mats begin action at 10 a.m. Seedings for Sunday's tournament will be released Thursday.
