BRISTOL, R.I.- Senior equestrian Courtney Fraser (Willington, Conn.) has been chosen as Roger Williams Female Athlete of the Week after her performance this past Saturday at the Connecticut College Horse Show. Fraser earned first place in both her flat and fences classes, qualifying her for a ride-off in which she finished as the Reserve High Point Rider.
In the ride-off held at the end of the show, Fraser was again evaluated on the flat before being asked to test against the two other riders, performing a figure eight at the posting trot without stirrups. Her performance earned second place, behind Tara Lynch of UConn, the leading open rider within Zone 1 Region 1.
Tri-captain Fraser competes at the open level, the most advanced division within IHSA competition. She can qualify for Regionals in open fences with a fourth place or better at the last regular season competition, held on March 15th at the Johnson & Wales Equine Center.
