Men's Cross Country earns eighth straight TCCC title

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country team continued its streak of dominance in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with its eighth straight win at the TCCC Invitational Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks edged Gordon College for the title, totaling 30 points to the Fighting Scots' 34. Kevin Clark (Feeding Hills, Mass.) paved the way for the Hawks, earning his third straight TCCC title and Runner of the Year award in 26:05. The three-time TCCC Runner of the Year has never finished lower than second in the TCCC Invitational as a Hawks. Alex Parulis (East Lyme, Conn.) finished runner-up to Clark for the second consecutive year. Parulis has now earned a spot on the All-TCCC team for the fourth straight season.

Jonathan Ellis (Yonkers, N.Y.) and Thomas Maybury (East Longmeadow, Mass.) also made the All-TCCC team with finishes of seventh and eighth and times of 27:14 and 27:22, respectively. Andrew Gallant (Merrimac, Mass.) missed all-conference distinction by three seconds, coming in 12th in a time of 27:40.

“Obviously having Kevin and Alex to repeat [their finishes] as 1 and 2 set the tone for the rest of the guys,” said Head Coach Sean Livingston. “It really came down to our 3-4-5 runners and how they placed against Gordon. Maybury, Gallant, and Ellis really sealed it by putting five guys in the top 12.”

According to Livingston, all of the runners, from one through 15, all ran great races and contributed to the overall success of the Hawks. Personal bests were recorded by DJ Sevigny (East Moriches, N.Y.) [34^th, 29:17], Brian Ki (Windham, N.H.) [35^th, 29:21], and Henry Lindner (Worcester, Mass.) [38^th, 29:57].
