BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team opened up the 2007-08 season with a third place finish at the University of Rhode Island Show Saturday afternoon.

Olivia Cornell (Rowley, Conn.) had the lone win on the day for the Hawks, taking the top spot in Advance Walk-Trot-Canter. The Hawks also picked up three runner-up finishes, including Amelia Stasny (Bernardston, Mass.) in Intermediate Fences, Samantha Taylor in Intermediate Flat, and Ashley Gagnon (Lunenburg, Mass.) in Novice Fences.

Shannon O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.)  took third place in Open Flat, while Gagnon also finished third in Intermediate Flat. Fourth place finishes were held by Taylor in Novice Fences and Alyssa Schankman (Newtown, Conn.)  in Novice Flat.

Kayla Waskiewicz (Bristol, R.I.) earned fifth place finishes in both Open Fences and Open Flat, while Kristen Seturins (Bethel, Conn.) placed fifth in Novice Flat.

Roger Williams will travel Saturday morning to take part in the Trinity College Show, beginning at 9:00 a.m.
