Eighth straight TCCC Championship for Women's Cross Country

BIDDEFORD, Maine – On the strength of four top-10 finishes, the Roger Williams University Women's Cross Country team earned its eighth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship Saturday afternoon.

Despite inclement weather and harsh running conditions, the Hawks still managed to total 35 points, 49 more than runner-up Gordon College. Emily Tran (Sharon, Mass.) crossed the finish line first with a time of 24:29, earning her TCCC Runner of the Year honors. Tran finished 29 seconds better than her performance last year, when she was runner-up at the TCCC Championships.

Rounding out the Hawk top-10 placers and joining Tran on the All-TCCC team were Megan Fish (Vernon, Conn,), Emily Bome (Syracuse, N.Y.), and Susan Thaxter (Pepperell, Mass.). Fish placed fifth with a time of 25:20, while Bome's 25:28 put her in seventh place. Thaxter clocked in at 25:40 to come in ninth.

Sean Livingston was voted TCCC Coach of the Year after guiding his runners to their eighth conference championship.

Roger Williams will now set its sights on the New England NCAA Division III Regional Championship, which will be held November 10 at Connecticut College.
