Men's Cross Country Captures CCC Championship

Boston, MA – The Roger Williams University men’s cross country team won their fifth consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship on Saturday and leading the way for the Hawk harriers was senior co-captain Jon Buell (Westfield, MA) who was named CCC “Runner of the Year” after crossing the line first at (27:16).

The Hawks established one of the most dominant performances ever in a CCC meet as they swept the competition placing five runners in the top five. Freshman Kevin Clark (Feeding Hills, MA), was named CCC “Rookie of the Year” for his second place efforts at (28:02). The Hawks displayed how dominant they are with taking the six top places, but also finishing all within one second of each other. Hawk harriers Alex Parulis (East Lyme, CT), Jim Dugan (Ocean City, NJ) ran the course in 28:02, while Garrett Vaslet (Seekonk, MA) and Jim Maznio (Woodstock, VT) all ran at (28:03). Rounding out the top ten was Hawks freshman Tim O'Koren (Franklin, MA).p> The Hawks will travel to Connecticut College next Saturday (Nov. 5) when they participate in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC’s) Championships.
