BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams Women's Softball Team is proud to announce that The Southern Maine Flame travel softball organization has awarded a $500 scholarship to freshman infielder Alana Peoples (Scarborough, Maine).

As a long-time player of The Southern Maine Flame travel softball program, the Flame Educational scholarship selected recipients based on their commitment to the Flame organization, academic and athletic achievements, and extracurricular activities. The organization selected two recipients, Peoples and Jennifer Field, a member of the Simmons College Softball team. Peoples has played for the Flame starting at age 9.

The Hawks first appearance of the 2012 season will be in Kissimmee, Fla. on March 10 against Skidmore College and Muskingum College.
