ECSU gets win over Women’s Swimming & Diving

BRISTOL, R.I. – Eastern Connecticut State University held off the Roger Williams University Women's Swimming & Diving team, defeating the Hawks 157-134 Saturday afternoon.

Stephanie Niman (Bristol, Conn.) swam well for the Hawks, beginning with a win in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:05.38. She would follow that performance with a runner-up finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle (26.60) and a third-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle (57.84).

Ursula Nickerson (Torrington, Conn.) claimed first in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:36.09. Heather Beardsworth (Dover, N.H.) took third in the same event (2:38.16) and also earned second in the 200 Yard IM (2:25.08).

Laura Folsom (Simsbury, Conn.) won the 1-Meter Dive, scoring 221.10 points and just missing the school record by less than three points. She also won the 3-Meter Dive, totaling 198.55 points.

In the 200 Yard Medley Relay, Heather Kinney (Haddam, Conn.), Alexis Mone (Mechanicville, N.Y.), Kristen Grandonico (Portland, Maine), and Lauren Marchese (Farmington, Conn.) teamed up for a runner-up finish, coming in with a time of 1:58.99.

Roger Williams University (3-6) will travel to Trinity next Saturday.
