Women’s Track & Field shows strong at MIT

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – At the Spring Invitational hosted by MIT, the Roger Williams University Women's Track & Field team put together a successful day, grabbing a few wins among the competition.

Megan Breault (Agawam, Mass.) posted a pair of wins on the day for Roger Williams. Breault took first in the second section of the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 16.24, then won the opening flight of the Long Jump with a distance of 15' 5.5".

Also taking a top spot for the Hawks was Kathryn Swanson (Stoneham, Mass.), who won the first section of the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 1:13.12.

In the first section of the 1500 Meter Run, Jessica Kraiza (North Granby, Conn.) grabbed third place in Section 1 with her time of 5:52.02. In the following section, Kristen St. Pierre (Dracut, Mass.) finished runner up, completing the event in 5:10.23.

Using MIT as a tune-up for her heptathlon debut at Holy Cross next week, Courtney Anderson (Palmer, Mass.) posted another personal best in the 100 Meter hurdles at 21.40. The freshman heptathlete also took seventh place in the second flight of the Javelin Throw.

"Courtney has had some nagging injuries that are putting a damper on her training a bit but she continues to come out and compete hard," said Throws and Multis Coach Tom Conley. "I'm looking forward to seeing what she'll do next week in her first collegiate heptathlon."

Roger Williams competes at the Silfen Invitational next Saturday, hosted by Connecticut College.
