Equestrian takes fourth at URI Show

GALES FERRY, Conn. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team came away with a fourth-place finish this past weekend at the University of Rhode Island Show.

Three Hawks on the weekend picked up wins at their divisions, including Maddie Stein (Easton, Conn.) and Rachael Asadorian (East Greenwich, R.I.) each earning first-place ribbons at Intermediate Flat. Charnele Bourque (Wakefield, Mass.) had the third Hawk win at Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter.

At Intermediate Fences, Asadorian and Chelsea Francis (Bristol, R.I.) both finished runner-up in the division, while Emily Pammett also notched a second-place finish at Intermediate Flat.

Two Hawks pointed out of their divisions on the weekend, as Francis pointed out of Intermediate Flat and into Open Flat. In addition, Kira Jewett (Falmouth, Mass.) pointed out of Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter and into Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter via a second-place finish in the division.

Lyndsey Burns (Newtown, Conn.) took second place at Open Fences and third place in Open Flat. As a results, she maintains her lead for the Cacchione Cup with 68 points, 20 points ahead of Kayla Prefontaine from the University of Rhode Island.

Roger Williams closes out the fall portion of the season after the Thanksgiving holiday with the Johnson & Wales University Show on December 3.
