24th for Men’s Cross Country at Westfield State

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Men's Cross Country came away with 24th place at the James Earley Invitational on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Westfield State College.

The first runner to cross the line for the Hawks was Jeremy Kacher (Waltham, Mass.), placing 93rd with a time of 29:04.00 with a personal best for the season. Matt Carney (Canton, Mass.) soon followed with a time of 29:31.60, good for 112th.

Joseph Hurley (Madison, Conn.) and Matt Duggan (Waldwick, N.J.) finished third and fourth for the Hawks, with respective times of 29:50.80 and 30:30.17, good for 126th and 163rd.

David Fitol (East Hampton, Conn.) and Ben Lane (Groveland, Mass.) finished back-to-back in 181st and 182nd place, garnering respective times of 31:01.34 and 31:02.47. In addition, Lane's time set a personal best on the year.

Kyle Barlow (Salem, N.H.) wrapped up the Hawk scoring with a time of 32:23.49, good for 222nd.

"It was getting a little warm by the time the men went off so I think that slowed times a bit," said Head Coach Sean Livingston. "We looked a little sluggish overall; I think in part to the workload from the week. Once we start to taper, these guys will be feeling a lot better."

Roger Williams will be on the road next Saturday at the Western New England University Invitational.
