Equestrian earns another tie for third

PAXTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Equestrian team finished with a tie for third place for the third week in a row, as the Hawks and Brown University both finished with 35 points Saturday afternoon at the Becker College Show.

Rachael Asadorian (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Lyndsey Burns (Newton, Conn.) tied with another rider from Brown University for High Point Rider of the day, all winning a pair of 1st place ribbons. Asadorian took first in Novice Fences and Intermediate Flat, while Burns earned wins in Open Fences and Open Flat. Burns now moves into a first-place tie for the Cacchione Cup with Katie Strandberg from JWU with 33 points each.

Emily Pammett (Groton, Mass.) pointed out of Novice Flat with a third-place finish and will now compete in Intermediate Flat. Also pointing out of her division was Rebecca Pettit (Delanson, N.Y.), who picked up a win at Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter and moves into Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter.

Elizabeth Groover (Barrington, N.H.), Mariah Lipscomb (Hebron, Conn.), and Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.) each earned a second-place finish for the Hawks on the day, with Groover in Walk-Trot, Lipscomb in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, and Allred in Intermediate Flat. Hannah Elias (West Tisbury, Mass.) also earned third, competing in Novice Fences.

For the overall season so far, Roger Williams is in fourth place with 87 points.

The Hawks' home show will be this coming Saturday at Glen Farm Stables in Portsmouth, R.I.

5th Place: Becker College - 32 points

6th Place: University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth - 26 points
