WENHAM, Mass. – The Roger Williams University Women's Cross Country team nabbed fourth place Saturday afternoon at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon College. The fourth-place finished improves two spots above their previous result a year ago.
Leading the way for the Hawks was Alexandra Honkala (South Royalton, Vt.), who finished in 15th place with a time of 20:06, also a new personal best. Next across the line for RWU was freshman Jamie Wandzilak (Wantagh, N.Y.), placing 21st in a collegiate-best time of 20:11.
Kaitlin Crowley (Beverly, Mass.) came in 41st place at a time of 20:39, with Lauren Ashby (Manchester, Vt.) coming right behind her one second later in 42nd place. Jane Depgen (Orange, Conn.) was next to follow in 43 place, clocking in at 20:41.
Meaghan Krasenics (Shelton, Conn.) placed two spots behind Depgen to take 45th place in a time of 20:44. Following her was Katie O'Koren (Franklin, Mass.) in 49th place, finishing in 20:49.
Marissa Jambor and Kristen St. Pierre were next to cross the line, with Jambor coming in 58th place (21:10) and St. Pierre in 60th (21:11).
“I was satisfied with the result today,” said Head Coach Sean Livingston. “We saw some conference teams today and now know what we're up against. We haven't been able to run our full team yet due to some injuries, but those that raced today did a great job of competing hard.”
The Hawks will next compete at the Westfield State College Invitational next Saturday.
