Equestrian ties for third at Brown/RIC Show

BRISTOL, R.I. – For the second week in a row, the Roger Williams University Equestrian team finished with a tie for third place, as the Hawks and Becker College both finished with 26 points Saturday afternoon at the Brown University/Rhode Island College Show.

Lyndsey Burns (Newtown, Conn.) had one of the Hawks' three first-place finishes on the day. Burns took the top spot in Open Fences and now moves into third place for the Cacchione Cup, which is for Open riders and is decided by taking the rider's combined score from both fences and flat.

Alexandra Pastor (Westhampton, N.Y.) earned the second first-place ribbon for the Hawks on the day with a win in Intermediate Flat. With the first-place finish, Pastor pointed out of Intermediate Flat and into Open Flat.

Also pointing out of his division was Lenny Carlucci (Fairfield, Conn.), who took third place in Walk-Trot and moves into Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter. In addition, Julia Doyle (Chester, N.H.) had the third win for RWU, with a first-place finish at Beginner Walk-Trot-Canter.

Jacqui Allred (Paoli, Pa.) and Shelby Dumond (Colchester, Conn.) each earned second-place finishes for the Hawks on the day, with Allred taking runner-up at Intermediate Flat and Dumond placing second in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter. Marielle Damato (Medway, Mass.) also competed in Advanced Walk-Trot-Canter, finishing third.

Roger Williams will next be at the Becker College Show this Saturday.
