WESTFIELD, Mass. - The Roger Williams University Women’s Track and Field team finished ninth out of 18 teams with a total of 32 points in the Jerry Gravel Classic this past weekend, hosted by Westfield State College.
The Hawks had an impressive meet, starting off with sophomore Katelyn Kotfila (Falmouth, Mass.) finishing 3rd in the Javelin, throwing 33.57 meters. Her classmate Katlin Florin (Woodbury, Conn.) finished 7th in the Long Jump at 4.40 meters and 5th in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.30 meters.
Freshman Danielle Bailey (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) finished 8th in the Pole Vault, clearing a height of 2.22 meters.
Sophomore Maria LoBalbo (Bethel, Conn.) had a strong showing in the 100-meter dash, finishing 10th out of 46 competitors with a time of 13.62.
Freshman Jill Gavrilescu (Marblehead, Mass.) finished 3rd in the 400-meter dash, finishing with a striking time of 1:11.47. She also finished 16th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.78. Freshman Giliann Collins (Stoneham, Mass.) finished 20th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.00.
Maggie Blinn (Billerica, Mass.) came in 5th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:12.41, while teammate Kathryn Swanson (Stoneham, Mass.) finished right behind her in 6th with a time of 1:13.92.
The Hawks look to get back into action April 3rd at the Coast Guard Academy Invitational in New London, Conn.
