BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Women’s Lacrosse team announced the selection of three seniors—Jessie Alden (Cataumet, Mass.), Kasey Beckwith (Franklin, Conn.) and Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.)—as the captains for the 2010 season.
Alden appeared in 19 games last season, playing a valuable role in the midfield and defensive positions. She caused seven turnovers and picked up 21 ground balls, while also securing 23 draw controls. In 2008, Alden ranked second on the team with 32 draw controls and added five goals and five assists for 10 points.
Beckwith earned All-TCCC Honorable Mention in 2009 for her offensive play throughout the season. She started in all 19 games where she led the team in scoring goals and also created many offensive opportunities for others with 24 assists. As a sophomore Beckwith led the team with 35 draw controls and was tied for third on the team with 24 goals.
Magee, who was also a co-captain for the 2009 season, was the only goalkeeper named to the All-TCCC First Team. She finished the season with a .594 save percentage, which placed her second in the NCAA Division III for that category. In her sophomore season, Beckwith was named to the All-TCCC Second Team and was also the only player to earn three TCCC Defensive Player of the Week awards.
The Hawks will begin the 2010 season on March 11th in Dudley, Mass., competing in a conference matchup against Nichols College. Their home opener will be against New England College on Wednesday, March 24th.
