Men's Rugby falls to Salve Regina

BRISTOL, R.I. - The Roger Williams University Men's Rugby Team suffered its second loss of the year with a 29-0 setback to Salve Regina University.

The game opened Roger Williams immediately on defense within their own territory.  The first 15 minutes were played in the Hawks' own half, following two missed tackles on the weak side of rucks. Salve scored on its first try, but the conversion was missed.  Roger Williams then kicked off to Salve and a series of penalties and turnovers by both teams created a good back and forth period of play.

Three offside calls on the Roger Williams' scrumhalf gave Salve Regina the ball inside the 5-meter line of RWU.  Roger Williams then stole the ball, but was unable to put together any type of effective offensive plays.  Salve scored two more tries with one conversion, bringing the score to 17-0 at the half.

Roger Williams' tackling in the backline and significant number of penalties prevented any sort of comeback versus a talented Salve Regina side.
