BRISTOL, R.I. – The Roger Williams University Baseball team has announced that the team has voted seniors Grant Bolin (Simsbury, Conn.) and Ryan MacCarthy (Middleton, Mass.) as team captains for the 2009 season.
Bolin was a 2009 All-TCCC First Team selection after setting career bests in a number of offensive categories. The shortstop batted .361 with nine home runs and 30 RBI, all career highs. In addition to his all-conference recognition, Bolin also spent time this past summer as a member of the Manchester Silkworms of the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
MacCarthy has been the primary catcher for the Hawks for two of the past three seasons, with 97 starts in 105 games played. He currently holds the school record for career fielding percentage at .991, having committed only five errors in his three seasons as a Hawk.
“Having graduated seven outstanding seniors, we will be inexperienced at key positions, and will rely heavily on the experience and leadership of Grant and Ryan,” said Head Coach Derek Carlson.
